Kinled: Redefining MedTech Investment with Patient Capital

Kinled and Patient Capital: How Long-Term Investment is Transforming MedTech & Biotech

In today’s fast-changing world of healthcare technology, one family-run investment firm is making a quiet but powerful impact: Kinled. Founded in 1924 and now led by Patrick Aisher, Kinled has become a hidden force in the global life sciences industry. With more than 175 investments over three decades and 22 successful IPOs, the company is shaping the future of medical innovation.

A Different Kind of Investment Strategy

Unlike traditional venture capital that pushes for quick exits, Kinled follows a “patient capital” approach. Patrick Aisher explains:

> “At Kinled, we don’t just invest in innovation. We partner with the people who are changing what’s possible.”

This long-term mindset allows Kinled to support groundbreaking companies in Hong Kong, Vienna, and Zurich. For example, in Vienna alone, Kinled has backed biotech incubators, startups, and funds that turn cutting-edge research into real-world healthcare solutions.

With research hubs at EPFL’s Innovation Park in Lausanne and biotech accelerator CEBINA in Vienna, Kinled transforms academic science into market-ready breakthroughs. One of its latest projects, DanubeNeuro, focuses on finding new therapies for neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.

Neurology Breakthroughs: Aleva Neurotherapeutics

One shining example of Kinled’s vision is Aleva Neurotherapeutics, a spin-off from EPFL. Since 2012, Aleva has been revolutionizing Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), offering new hope for patients with Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor.

Kinled became an early investor in 2015, helping Aleva grow from a university lab project into a global leader in neuromodulation. Today, Aleva’s directional DBS technology is being expanded to treat epilepsy, OCD, and even depression. The company has already raised $100 million, proving the power of long-term investment in science-driven healthcare.

Fighting Blindness: ReBio Pharma

Another standout in Kinled’s portfolio is ReBio Pharma, which joined in 2021. The company is tackling one of the biggest challenges in eye care: chronic eye diseases. About 1 in 4 adults develop these conditions, and without proper treatment, many risk blindness.

Instead of unreliable daily eye drops, ReBio is developing a single, long-lasting injection that maintains effective drug levels in the eye. This breakthrough technology could change the treatment of glaucoma and eye cancer forever.

By working with Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and major pharmaceutical companies, ReBio is ensuring its treatments meet the highest safety and regulatory standards—another sign of Kinled’s commitment to scientific excellence.

Why Kinled Stands Out

Kinled isn’t just funding startups—it’s building the future of healthcare. Through patient capital, strong global networks, and deep scientific collaboration, the company empowers researchers and entrepreneurs to turn life-changing ideas into real solutions.

For patients around the world, that means one thing: a healthier, more innovative future in medicine.
